Hey my loves,

Hope you all loved my previous 3 ingredients Chicken Dry Roast Recipe. So today I have come up with a fish recipe.


I am not a big fan of fish curry but I definitely love to have fried fish. They are so tasty and spicy. Fish fry recipes are always super easy to make and at the same time very delicious. I always loved the fish fry that I used to have from the Udaya hotel in Mumbai. It had a special taste compared to other recipes.


My mother in law’s fish fry is just amazing. The marination is quite different from what my mother used to make. So, I thought why not I combined her marination style with some additional ingredients from my end to achieve the desired taste like my favorite restaurant's fish fry.


And to my luck, it turned out quite well! So here is the recipe for you guys to try out.



Restaurant Style Karimeen Fish Fry Recipe


Prep Time : 10 minutes | Marination Time : 1-2 Hrs | Cook Time : 15 minutes | Total Time : 25 minutes



Ingredients



For Marination :

  • 2 Karimeen fish (medium size)

  • 4 Dry red chili

  • 2 tsp Chilli Powder

  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri chili Powder

  • 4-5 Garlic cloves

  • 1/2 Ginger

  • 1 tsp Pepper Powder

  • ½ tsp Coriander powder

  • ½ tsp Garam Masala

  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

  • 1 tbsp Fennel seeds

  • 1-2 tbsp Rice Flour

  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice

  • Salt to taste

  • Water few spoons

For Cooking and Garnishing :

  • Coconut Oil – 3 to 5 tbsp

  • Curry leaves a handful

  • Onion rings

  • Lemon Wedges



How To Prepare Restaurant Style Karimeen Fish Fry



Marinating the fish :

  1. Clean fish pieces, make deep slashes/ slits in it.

  2. Take a blender and all the ingredients except rice flour, lemon juice. Now add a small amount of water and blend them to a fine paste.

  3. You can add some more water in between for smooth blending. Make sure not to add too much of it as we require a medium-thick paste.

  4. Once blended, transfer it to a bowl and add 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1 tbsp rice flour.

  5. Mix all the ingredients well together. Check for salt and add accordingly.

  6. Now marinate the fish pieces with this mixture. Coat it on both sides and also deep into the slits.

  7. Leave it for at least an hour.


Frying the marinated fish :

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan, toss some curry leaves, and then place the fish one by one over it.

  2. Cover and cook for 5-6 min on medium to low flame.

  3. Then, flip over and cook on high heat for another 5 min or until it’s crispy and fully cooked.

  4. The fish is done, serve hot with some lemon wedges and onion rings.

Tips

  • You can use this same method of preparation for any fish with bones like mackerel etc.

  • If you are using Karimeen, make sure you let it sit for at least 1-2 hr after marination. Only then, the fish will be able to absorb the flavors into it.

  • The taste of salt should be slightly overtaking other spices to get the perfect taste after frying.

  • You can fry the fish without covering on medium to low flame. It’s just that it’ll take some more time to cook fully.

  • Always keep the flame at medium-low range initially while trying to avoid burning.
