According to me, Maybelline is one of the most affordable drug store brands. They provide yours with great makeup formulas that are pretty long-lasting and budget-friendly. If you are a beginner and want to try out makeup products without cutting your pocket then go for the Maybelline brand.
Now, let us focus on one of their very popular lip collections - the " Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick " range. I am a lipstick lover and liquid ones are always my first choice. When I got to know about Maybelline launching it's Matte Liquid lipsticks I knew that I had to get them for sure!
I eventually ordered two different shades at first to try it out and see if it's really worth that hype and price. But Oh MY God! I am saying this from my heart, the day I applied it on my lips till today it's my absolute favorite. I am sure no other brands will offer you such a good formulated lipstick at this price range.
If you don't believe me, here is my genuine review with some proofs to show you how good this lipstick is.
What Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Claims?
Maybelline New York has launched its " Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick " range with 25+ beautiful super-saturated shades for any skin tone. It claims to have a highly pigmented long-lasting formula that stays for up to 16 hrs. This also mentions leaving your lips with a flawless matte finish and doesn't even dry out them.
Packaging :
Maybelline Superstay matte liquid lipstick comes in a long, color-coded tube with a white cap. It consists of 5 ml quantity which is pretty good. The shade names are mentioned at the bottom on the tube and it has a unique arrow applicator that helps in the precise application of the product.
Shades :
This matte liquid lipstick comes in 25+ different shades in all categories like Reds, Corals, Pinks, Wines, Browns, Nudes, and Mauves. You just need to choose the one you like or prefer according to your complexion.
How to Apply :
The application of the product becomes super easy with the unique arrow applicator. Here are the steps to follow while applying it on your lips to get the perfect finish.
Step 1. Take out some product on the arrow applicator.
Step 2. Apply liquid lipstick at the center of your upper lip and follow the contours of your mouth.
Step 3. Glide the liquid lipstick across the entire bottom lip.
Step 4. Fill the remaining portion to complete the look.
My experience and review on Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick -
I always love browns and reds. It really goes well with my complexion and hence purchased my first two liquid lipsticks in these shades. One was the Ruler and the other was Self Starter. Moreover, these shades go with any makeup look and occasion.
The ruler is more like a subtle red shade while Self Starter is a proper coral one. These liquid lipsticks are super pigmented and glide smoothly on your lips. First I felt it might be sticky on my lips, but after it dried completely I felt as though I wasn't even wearing a lip product. It was that naked.
This provides you with a velvety- matte finish without any shimmers, luckily the way I love it personally. A single stroke of it was enough for the perfect color pay off. I have somewhat dark upper lips and surprisingly, it even covered and hid those just in a single application. Isn't that a win? Oh yes! At least for me, it is.
Texture and Staying Power :
This Liquid Lipstick has a medium to the thick texture. The formula may feel tacky or sticky at first but once it dries off it will show it's magic. Though the texture is thick it glides pretty well on the lips without tugging. And the best part is it didn't make my lips dry or extremely chapped.
Now I have aesthetically described it's features lets move on to the most important one - "The Long-Lasting hype". To be genuine, it doesn't transfer or smudge at all only after it dries off co"completely. It takes around 20-30 secs for it to dry completely. But if you try to imprint it on any surface before drying then good luck girl, you have got to strive in removing that stain.
Hence make sure you let it dry completely. It's just a 20-30 sec wait and you would be good to go for the whole day! Hence, once it dries it's a 100% smudge-proof and waterproof lipstick that stays super long without any mess.
In my case, it survived over 11+ hours (which includes a proper meal and some snacks ) without smudging or transferring. It looked perfect throughout the day.
But once, when my lip was extremely dry it gave me some flakes in the inner lip line. Hence, if you have an extremely dry lip then make sure to scrub it before applying the lipstick. When it comes to moisturizing your lips, I was happy to find that lip balms don’t mess up the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipstick.

How To Remove it?
It takes forever to remove it using a normal wipe. Therefore please do not even try to do that. I remove it using a cotton pad soaked in the Garnier Micellar water. It comes off easily in a few seconds.
You can also go for an oil-based remover like Dot & Key Melt Away Makeup Remover Balm to remove it within no time.
Overall, I am obsessed with this lipstick. I loved it so much that I couldn't resist myself from buying 2 other shades ( Inspirer and Delicate). These are the best affordable liquid lipsticks with equal features and benefits similar to high-end brands like MAC, Huda Beauty, etc.
