Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a great Eid and Raksha Bandhan celebration! I know this pandemic would have allowed you to celebrate it in a very minimal way but still, festivals are always special and a unique dessert would be more than enough to lit it up completely.

So today I have a very special milk-based sweet recipe. This is a traditional recipe of Rajasthan. In the north also this dish is prepared as the main sweet on festivals like Eid, Holi, Diwali, and Navratri. Anyway, you can still prepare it without any occasions and have it served as a dessert.

The actual process of preparing it really requires some time and effort. But I have come up with an instant version of it which can save your time and yet does not compromise its tastes at all.

Instant Kalakand Sweet or Dessert Recipe At Home

SettingTime : 2-3 hours | Cook Time : 15 minutes | Total Time : 25 minutes

Ingredients ( 1 cup =240ml)

For Preparation of Kalakand sweet -

  • 1 tbsp ghee

  • ⅓ cup of sugar

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 cup milk powder ( any brand)

  • 250gms paneer ( homemade or market bought)

  • ½ tsp elaichi ( optional)

  • 1 tsp crushed pistachio

  • 1 tsp chopped badam

  • 1 tsp crushed cashew nut

How To Prepare Kalakand Sweet Instantly

Preparation of the sweet -

  1. Take a thick non-stick pan and add 1 tbsp ghee.

  2. Once the ghee melts and becomes hot add milk followed by sugar.

  3. Keep mixing them well on medium flame until the sugar melts completely.

  4. After the sugar melts, you will notice bubbles coming out of the mixture.

  5. At this point add 1 cup of milk powder and mix them well.

  6. Keep stirring and make sure no lumps are formed in the mixture.

  7. After mixing for a minute add 250gms crumbled paneer to it.

  8. Switch the flame to high and mix them well.

  9. Keep stirring constantly on high flame until it thickens completely and starts leaving/sticking the pan surface.

  10. In between stirring take a baking pan or any steel pan and grease it with some ghee. Keep it aside. ( make sure, you low down the flame of the stove while doing this to avoid burning of the mixture)

  11. Now when the mixture is fully thickened and soft, switch off the flame. It takes around 10 minutes to thicken the mixture.

  12. Add ½ tsp elaichi and give a quick mix.

Setting and Garnishing of Sweet -

  1. Then transfer it to the greased baking pan and spread it evenly to all sides.

  2. Level the surface with a spatula and then finally garnish the top layer fully with all the chopped and crushed dry fruits.

  3. Then gently press them so that they stay intact to the layer.

  4. Leave it to cool and set completely for 2-3 hours.

  5. Now after 3 hrs take a plate and place the baking pan upside down so that the sweet is transferred to the plat.

  6. And that’s it, our delicious kalakand is ready. Cut them into pieces before serving.
