Hair Removal Process | Waxing | Shaving | Laser Hair Removal | Hair Removal Creams | Natural Remedies | Epilators | Body and Facial Hair Removal at Home

It would have been so amazing if all our body hair would have disappeared with just a snap of our fingers! But this is something which can never even happen.
Having body hair is not to be ashamed of! These hairs are meant to protect us from pollution and also to provide some warmth. But today’s modern beauty standards and products have made us feel that we no longer need to be coated with those furs.
However, the whole hair removal process is really hectic, painful, and time-consuming. Many women prefer shaving while others go for waxing. There are many others who even opt to have laser hair removal so as to become hair-free forever! But you would be surprised to know that there are also some natural home remedies to remove your body and facial hair over time. This might take time but still, it definitely gives effective results.
So today let's discuss all the options available and their pros and cons so that you will be able to choose the right one that suits you best.
1) Shaving -
Shaving the body hair can be really easy, quick, and handy with a razor. But many people get strawberry legs, red tiny bumps, rashes or ingrown hair if not done properly. Hence you need to follow the right steps while shaving your legs, hands, or any other part of your body.

Also never forget to exfoliate your skin before shaving. This itself helps in reducing most shaving concerns.
Pros -
Inexpensive
Super easy and quick
Perfect for last-minute emergencies
Painless
Can be used to remove hair from genital areas
Cons -
Can result in strawberry legs, red tiny bumps when not done correctly.
Ingrown hair problems
For some people, it can result in thicker hair growth
Note: Always moisturize your legs after shaving and keep the razor dry after use. Discard once the blade loses its sharpness or is rusted.

2) Waxing -
This is the most painful method of removing hair. Also, the costs are pretty high when compared to shaving or hair removal creams. Waxing every month can really create a hole in your pocket.

Waxing is nothing but pulling your hair follicles from roots thus leaving behind a flawless hair-free skin for at least 2 weeks. Most people prefer this due to the long-lasting results, however, it’s pain and cost factors make it impractical for many ladies out there.
Pros -
Gives Flawless looking skin.
Long-lasting results
Thin and less hair growth after a few sessions.
Chances of bumps and strawberry legs are lesser.
Also used to remove hair from genital areas
Cons -
Expensive
Painful
Time-consuming

3) Hair removal creams -
Trust me, the very first thing most of us would have tried would be a hair removal cream. Though it does the task at the end of the day it’s not a good thing for our skin. It’s better than shaving as it won’t leave you with bumps or rashes. However, hair regrowth is double than using a razor. It may even dry out your skin.

So once in a while, perhaps for some functions where you want to stay away from rashes and bumps yet get a flawless looking skin without any pain, you can go for this.
Pros -
No bumps and rashes/strawberry legs
Painless Procedure
Easy to use.
Cons -
Dries out the skin
Can be allergic to some people
Regrowth of hair is rapid and more.
Harmful of skin if regularly used.
Not suitable for facial hair removal.
All creams cannot be used to remove hair from genital areas
The 10-15 min time frame to keep the product on the skin might not completely remove all the hair, especially for the ladies with thick body hair.

4) Epilators -
If there is something I would recommend other than natural remedies that are safe in all ways it would be to use an epilator. Most of us might not be familiar with this name.

Epilators are nothing but electrical equipment used to remove body hair from roots without using any wax or creams. Though it can be slightly painful it’s not as much as waxing.
Epilation might also be an option if you want to remove shorter hair. Waxing isn’t always effective on short hair. Hair also regrows at a slower rate. The longer you epilate, the less hair you’ll notice on certain parts of your body.
Pros -
An easy hair removal process
Affordable as it’s just a one-time investment for a longer run.
Hair regrowth in slow
Given thin and less body hair over multiple uses.
Can remove shorter hair also.
Cons -
Slightly painful
Rare chances of ingrown hair if not using the device correctly.
Can cause infections if not properly cleaned and used.
Note - Always use it on dry skin and then follow with some ice cubes and moisturizing cream to prevent any skin redness after epilation. Don’t scrub your skin for the next 24hrs after plating. Clean and remove any hair from the device to reduce the risk of infections.

5) Laser Treatments -
If you are not satisfied with shaving and waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser removal can be a good option.

It is the most common cosmetic procedure done to remove body hair permanently.
Pros -
Painless procedure
Can remove complete body hair even from the genital areas.
Speedy process
Removes hair from roots
No regrowth of hair.
Cons -
Might not suit some and can lead to skin infections
Expensive
Sometimes changes in skin color can also occur.
6) Natural Home remedies -
You will be surprised to know that even natural home remedies can help in removing the body and facial hair over time. You need to continue using these remedies regularly so as to get the best results.

a) Besan Ubtan -
This is the age-old traditional method that our ancestors also used to follow. To prepare this just take-
1/2 cup of gram flour
1 tsp organic turmeric powder
1 tsp honey
1 tsp oil
2 tbsp curd /milk.
Combine all together and make a paste and apply it all over your body. Let it dry and then wet each area and scrub gently in a circular motion. This will help to get rid of all the body hair after a few regular uses to a great extent.
b) Papaya and turmeric -
Papaya has certain enzymes that help in breaking down the hair follicles. Also applying raw papaya on the skin can give you clear and smooth skin. Turmeric, on the other hand, is a well-known ingredient to use for removing hair. You will need -
½ cup papaya juicy pulp
½ tsp organic turmeric powder
Mix both the ingredients together and apply it all over your body and face. Let it sit for 15-20 mins. Rinse with normal water. Repeat twice a week for 2-3 months regularly for the best results.
c) Sugar, honey lemon wax -
Now if you want to do natural homemade waxing here is the complete process. Take -
just 200g sugar
60ml lemon juice
2 tbsp honey
60ml water
Add the ingredients to a saucepan, stir well, and bring to a boil. Then simmer the mixture on low-medium flame. Keep stirring frequently. Once the mixture is golden brown remove the pan and let it cool completely. Apply a spoon full of wax on the skin and let it sit for a minute and pull it in the opposite direction of your hair growth. You can also use waxing strips to do the process. Once done follow with some moisturizer.
d) Egg and cornstarch -
Egg white becomes strong enough to create a waxing effect for your unwanted body and facial hair strands. It's also rich in vitamin A that activates a whitening effect for any strand making them less visible. For this mask take -
1 egg
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sugar
Take an egg and separate the yolk from the egg white. Now add 1 tsp of cornstarch and sugar and mix well. Apply this thick paste of the areas where you wish to remove the hair from. Once the mask is completely dry peel it off and then pat dry. Repeat it once a week to get good results especially if you have thick hair.
You can even use the cornflour and milk mask where you mix half a cup of cornflour with ¼ cup of milk to form a thick paste. Apply it wherever required and then let it dry completely. Peel off the mask and pat dry.
Note -
Natural home remedies might not be very effective in removing complete hair from your body if you are having thick hair growth.
Though they are natural, always do a patch test before using them regularly.
Though it may not remove the body hair, it will definitely result in thinner hair.
Also after waxing, using these remedies can really help more in delaying hair growth.
Pros -
Safe to use
Inexpensive
No rashes or skin infections
Easy and not time-consuming.
Cons -
Takes time to show results.
Might be less effective for people with extremely thick hair.
Now you have knows the different ways to remove the complete body and facial hair, choose the one according to your hair issues and texture. Going natural can really be good for your skin and also does the work at the same time. But if you have thick and excessive hair growth then opting for other options is totally fine.
Remember having body hair won't make you look ugly, it's just an add on to make our skin look flawless in whole. It's nothing to do with your natural beauty or your looks. So if you prefer not to go hair-free then carry yourself confidently the way you are!!
