5 Step Procedures To Perform Salon Like Hair Spa Treatment At Home
1) Oiling Your Hair & Scalp -
Oiling your hair is the first and most important step in doing a hair spa treatment. Oiling helps in nourishing your scalp and your complete hair. It makes you feel more relaxed and at the same time promotes hair growth.

You can either use coconut oil or olive/almond oil. But if you wish to provide more nutrients to your scalp then,
Mix 1 tbsp of coconut, almond and olive oil. To this add 2-3 vitamin E capsules and mix all the ingredients together.
Warm this mixture in a microwave or through a double boiling process.
Now start applying it on your scalp.
Spread the rest of the mixture throughout your hair ( from roots to tips).
Next, gently massage the oil into your scalp from roots to tips for 5-6 minutes.
Leave this oil for at least 20-30 minutes before washing.
Oiling and massaging stimulates the blood flow to your scalp and reduces hair fall issues.
2) Steaming -
After oiling and providing a good massage to your hair, it’s time to allow the nutrients to penetrate deep into the scalp. For this steaming can be the best method. You can either use a steamer and blow a little bit throughout the hair.

If this method seems to be uncomfortable, you can simply dip a clean towel in a bowl of hot water, squeeze out the excess and wrap it around your head. Secure with some clips if needed. If the towel becomes cold after a few minutes, again dip it in hot water again and repeat the same steps. Let it stay on your scalp for no more than 10-15 minutes.
The heat will trap the oil and open up the hair follicles thus allowing the oil to penetrate your hair and scalp and deeply nourish it.
3) Shampooing & Cleansing Your Hair -
After 15 minutes of steaming your hair, now it’s time to wash and clean your hair thoroughly. Make sure you use a mild shampoo (preferably SLS free) that doesn’t dry out your hair yet cleanses your scalp really well. Follow the double shampoo method to remove the dirt build-up completely.

Wash your hair with lukewarm water. Post shampooing, use a conditioner only if your hair is extremely dry, else just skip it. You a towel to squeeze out the excess water before proceeding to the next step.
4) Applying The Hair Mask -
The choice of hair mask is completely dependent on you. You can either go for the store-bought hair spa creams or else prepare a natural hair mask by yourself. Anything will work just fine. Choose products that provide or claim to provide deep conditioning and nourishing along with some protein benefits to your hair.

Applying a hair mask is the key step in achieving a smooth silky and healthy-looking hair. Hence, you should never go wrong at this step. For that here are a few options you can choose from both market-bought products and homemade hair masks.

Homemade Natural Hair Masks
Though preparing homemade natural hair masks can be a bit time consuming the results are always worth it. I have already shared the best homemade natural masks recipes on my page. You can definitely go with any of those.

Here I will be mentioning my personal favorite masks that are really effective and quite easy to prepare.
a) Banana, Oil, and Honey Hair Mask -
Take a blender, add 1 banana ( roughly sliced), 1 tbsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp honey. Blend all the ingredients to make a smooth paste. Apply the mask all over your hair and massage for a few minutes. Leave it for at least 30 minutes before washing with normal water. Do not use any shampoo.
How Often -
Once in two weeks.
b) Egg and Oil Hair Mask -
Take a bowl, add 2 eggs ( skip the yolk if you have extremely dry hair), and 1 tbsp coconut or olive oil. Whisk until it forms a smooth paste. Now apply it on your hair from roots to tips and leave it for 20-25 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo.
How often -
Twice or thrice a month.
c) Coconut Cream Hair Mask -
Grate a half or full coconut depending on your hair length. Blend it nicely in a blender to extract the coconut milk. Refrigerate it overnight. Use a spoon to skim the solidified coconut cream from the top of the milk and put it in a glass bowl. Whisk in a circular motion to develop a cream-like consistency.
If you find it difficult to prepare you can purchase it online(link is given below). You can also add 1-2 vitamin E capsules. Mix it well and apply it throughout your hair. Leave it for 30-40 minutes. Rinse with normal or cold water using a mild shampoo.
How often -
Once a week.

d) Aloe Vera and Vitamin E Hair Mask -
Take a bowl, add ½ cup aloe vera gel ( fresh gel preferably), 2 vitamin E capsules, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp milk(optional). Mix all the ingredients together to get a smooth paste. Now apply the mask to your scalp and hair completely. Massage for 4-5 minutes and leave it for another 25-30 minutes before washing it with cool water and a mild sulfate-free shampoo.
How often -
Once a week.
Once you choose your mask, divide your hair into sections and start applying it from your roots to the tips. Use a wide-toothed comb to help distribute the mask through your hair. Once done, cover your hair with a shower cap.
If you have long hair, make a loose bun, secure it with some clips, and then cover it with a shower cap. This step is quite effective as it traps the heat within the cap thus providing much better results. Allow the mask to sit for at least 30 minutes on your scalp. But if a store-bought mask has certain instructions mentioned, then follow those carefully.
Note: Masks should always be applied on damp hair.
5) Rinse off the Mask -
The last and final step is to rinse off the mask. For this, wash the mask out using a mild shampoo and lukewarm water. Follow up with a good conditioner. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse the conditioner out. If the mask recipe has a different set of cleansing instructions, then follow those instead.

After washing, pat your hair dry with a soft towel or a Tshirt. Let it air dry fully and avoid using any hair dryers for the next 24 hrs.
That’s it! You are done with your hair spa treatment at home at the most budget-friendly rate. Trust me, you’re definitely gonna notice a huge difference in your hair texture and other hair related issues after regularly following this spa treatment at least once or twice a month. So do try this out and see how shiny and healthy your hair becomes over time.
